Medium — 120 words
Courtney Spencer is the author of Embrace the Hit, a memoir about adoption, loss, and the runs you don't get to choose. At twenty-six, a stranger in a Manhattan office kitchen told her she had the body type for skeleton — a Winter Olympic sport she had never heard of. She finished last at her first combine, went back, and spent three seasons training on the ice at eighty miles an hour with no brakes.
Off the track, Courtney hosts CBS Deals on CBS Mornings, produces for HopeScope, and was selected as a QVC program host from a field of more than 17,000 applicants. She co-founded MYX Fitness, later acquired by Beachbody, and anchored the news in Waco, Texas. She lives in St. George, Utah with her husband and two children.

Spoken introduction
For the host to read from the stage — about 30 seconds.
Our speaker tonight has been on national television in more than a million homes, co-founded a fitness company that was acquired by Beachbody, and once threw herself face-first down a sheet of ice at eighty miles an hour with her chin an inch off the ground. She finished dead last at her first tryout. She went back. Her book, Embrace the Hit, is about the runs we don't get to choose, and what happens when we stop bracing against them. Please welcome Courtney Spencer.
